Reading Week 2018

“You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.” – Dr. Seuss

On the first week of April 2018 Jeel Yanbu International School celebrated the reading week during the activity period under the supervision of the academic principal Ms. Bara’ah. The purpose of this activity was to encourage students to read and love reading as a door of education where students at all ages will benefit from developing their language and thinking skills.

There was a different activity on each day of the week which interest students and encourage them to read upon participation. This included the Wacky Sunday Costume where students had to dress up on their favourite book or movie character. Knock your shoes off day where they had to read about stuff decoration and convert their shoes into a piece of art on the runway. And a pyjama day, enhancing the reading habit before going to bed. Other activities have also been implemented such as the general knowledge competition, riddles for different grade levels, book exhibition by English teachers and the librarian and an educational trip to Jarir Bookstore.

At the end, students and teachers had a lot of great Reading Week adventures. The Activity was a huge success where enthusiasm and effervescence overflowed amongst students and teachers.

Recognition for all participants and winners for the different competitions were given on Thursday for the nice effort and creativity that they have applied.

Big thanks to all our English teachers, Ms. Lama and Ms. Saima for the extra effort and lovely plan of the week.
