This is how JYIS has started the day this morning Thursday, October 26, 2017 colored all in pink to raise the supporting voice for the breast cancer victims and to enhance the awareness and importance of annual breast examination for prevention and/or early detection of the disease.
The activity was held during the morning assembly program followed by first period only where a group of students presented some facts and information about the disease and the month of October as an awareness month for people to bare in mind the annual examination of breast either through self- exam or seeing a physician for a mammogram. The points covered in the presentation were the causes and risk factors of the disease, symptoms and self-exam for any abnormalities where a lemon model were used representing the human breast, ducts and lymph nodes as well as how maintaining a healthy lifestyle will help in preventing the disease.
For years, October and the color pink have signified Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All students and staff of JYIS are now familiar with the birth of pink ribbon and that it stands for prevention, detection, treatment, reflecting the symbol’s mission, and spread of awareness.
Students and teachers have contributed in writing supporting messages on “Tree of Hope” sending much of appreciation and strength to those victims and survivals around the world.
Overall, today was a successful event where the whole crew of JYIS has benefit from and enjoyed.
